Product Description

DIN571 hex head wood screws are specially designed for fastening wood materials. The hexagonal design can be easily installed using tools such as wrenches. The hexagonal structure provides a firm grip, which can prevent slipping during the locking process and ensure the fastening effect. The hex head wood screws is widely used in construction, furniture, wood structures, decoration and other purposes. Hex head wood screws are heavy screws with a square or hexagonal head and an external threaded cylindrical shaft that tapers to a point at the end. The hexagon head wood screws are mainly used to connect heavy wood, fix metal to wood, and in some cases can also be used for masonry or concrete.

All hexagon head wood screws need to be drilled with a general drill bit (such as a twist drill bit) before screwing in to prevent the wood from cracking. You need to use a woodworking drill bit to drill the pilot hole. The hexagon head wood screws are slightly different from metal drill bits because they have a sharp point at the end to prevent the drill bit from shifting.

As a general rule, the diameter of the pilot hole should be half the diameter of the hex head wood screws when using softwoods and three quarters when using hardwoods. For example, when inserting an 8 mm hex wood screw, the pilot hole should be 4 mm in softwoods and 6 mm in hardwoods. Once the pilot hole is drilled, the hex wood screw can be driven directly into the wood.

When using a hex head wood screws in wood, it is recommended to add a washer to prevent the head of the screw from digging into the wood when struck. This also makes it easier to remove the screw at any time. Another option is a flanged hexagon head wood screws, which is a hex wood screw with an integrated washer in the head.
